Why we need to create more green spaces now
The climate crisis has long since arrived in our cities: extremely hot summers, hardly any shade, and too many sealed surfaces are making life there increasingly stressful—and dangerous. A new international study now shows in black and white how crucial more urban greenery is for our health:
If the proportion of green spaces in cities were to increase by 30%, almost a third of all heat-related deaths could be prevented.
Greening saves lives – science proves it
The study, published in the renowned journal The Lancet Planetary Health, is based on data from 53 countries and simulates the influence of vegetation on urban temperatures and mortality. The result: in densely built-up city centers, additional greening can drastically mitigate the effects of heat waves. According to the study, around 400,000 premature deaths due to heat could have been avoided in Europe alone – if there had been more greenery in cities. Older people, children, and those with pre-existing health conditions are particularly affected. And since cities heat up more during the day and cool down less at night, the strain is particularly high there.
Greening with immediate effect – flexible application
Traditional greening—such as planting trees—is essential in the long term. It creates permanent greenery and improves the microclimate. However, it often takes a long time for these measures to take effect. That is why complementary solutions are needed to provide immediate relief.
MobiGa takes precisely this approach: our mobile, vertical gardens produce immediately noticeable effects – wherever green, cool places to relax are needed. Whether in city centers, office areas, event spaces, or at company locations – MobiGa can be set up flexibly, temporarily, or permanently. And all without a building permit. Our systems combine greening with evaporative cooling. On hot days, the integrated high-pressure misting system lowers the ambient temperature by up to 12°C – making the difference between overheating and breathing easy. At the same time, they create green islands for sitting, lingering, and recharging – a real added value for every city and its people.
Green places are livable places
The data is clear: greening is not a luxury, but an effective protection against the consequences of climate change—and a real gain in quality of life, health, and attractiveness. With MobiGa, sealed surfaces can be quickly transformed into green, cool living spaces—flexibly and according to need. Because every step counts—for our climate, our health, and livable spaces.
